How to Work While Studying in Canada (International Students)
As an international student in Canada, you can work part-time while studying,up to 20 hours per week during the school year and full-time during scheduled breaks (like summer or winter holidays), without a separate work permit.
You must have a valid study permit.
You must be enrolled full-time at a Designated Learning Institution (DLI)
Your program must be at least 6 months long and lead to a degree, diploma, or certificate.
Your study permit must state that you're allowed to work on or off campus.
💡 If your study permit doesn’t include work conditions, you can request to have it updated for free.
You can work on-campus or off-campus , and some programs may also include co-op or internships
as part of your course, which may require a separate co-op work permit.
