REQUIREMENTS FOR STUDY VISA

Planning to study in Canada? Before you can start your academic journey, you’ll need to apply for a study permit. Below is a list of the key documents and requirements you’ll need to prepare to ensure a smooth and successful application process.

  1. Letter of Acceptance (LOA) From a Designated Learning Institution (DLI) in Canada

  2. Valid Passport - Should be valid for the entire duration of your intended stay

  3. Proof of Financial Support - Show you can pay for tuition, living expenses, and return transportation

    Examples: bank statements, proof of paid tuition, GIC (for SDS), sponsor’s affidavit of support

  4. Immigration Forms

    • Completed IMM 1294 (Application for Study Permit)

    • and other required forms

  5. Proof of Identity

  6. Passport-size photos (based on Canada’s photo requirements)

  7. Statement of Purpose (SOP) - A letter explaining why you want to study in Canada and your study plan

  8. English Language Test Results (if required by school)

    • IELTS, TOEFL, Duolingo, etc.

  9. Biometrics- Fingerprints and photo (usually done at a Visa Application Centre)

  10. Medical Exam (if required )- Especially if you’re staying more than 6 months or from a designated country

  11. Police Clearance (if requested) - To show you have no criminal record

  12. Visa Application Fee - CAD $150 (as of 2025), plus biometrics fee if applicable
